Finally went to see a fashion designer, Seyitan and Amiola weren’t interested but Aj agreed to go with me! YAAAY! Louis Fame; he had nice pieces but nothing for plus size people which was a complete bummer because his things were actually quite reasonable. I feel like Cameroonians don’t really support fashion designers in their country and that’s why a lot of them are MIA, that’s very sad to me, because designers are the colors to a country; according to what Louis fame said, they’ve only just started to pay attention to designers from Cameroon. In the evening we went to a jam session, nabille invited us to; it was amazing! Highlight of the day, matter of fact highlight of Cameroon, we got to show the Cameroon artists what the girls and I are really made off! LOVED IT! Eron came by the studio to see me also and say goodbye cause we were headed back to Douala after the jam session, he’s cool people! 😉 when we got to douala dropped our bags in our hotel room and went out for dinner with the girls, it was such a nice restaurant, great food & Great ambience, we honestly got a chance to wind down and just enjoy wine and each others’ company. Off to bed, early start tomorrow; we’re headed to Kenya in the morning, see you there!
We left Buea’s crappy internet situation today, YAY! I knew that hotel didn’t have greatness to offer. We went to jamming sessions with Nabil and some other artistes in Buea today and it was so beautiful. Mr. Leo and Salatiel are such talented singers, Mon Dieu! (Look what I did there? I’m almost French now) I really appreciate talents and creative, you know? These guys gave me goosebumps! And they gave me courage to sing too! I’m usually shy. It was such a blessed session. Africa is the future! Dinner was really nice too, a perfect end to Cameroon. I didn’t know what to expect coming here, but I was mighty impressed. Kenya tomorrow!
The only thing I’m NOT going to miss about Beau is the crappy internet, I honestly can’t wait to leave. Taje and Ajifa are going to check out a Cameroonian designer today so myself and Amiola can rest a bit before we head out. Nabil and his ‘musician friends’ set up a Jamming session for us and even though I went not knowing what to expect, I absolutely loved it! You might just hear about a TASA album soon, we did a song together and it was actually not bad. All the artists had really amazing voices, it gave me goose bumps and I might have cried a little. It was a bonding moment for us as well. We get to Douala really late, tired and hungry so we go get dinner and retire for the night… Next stop, Kenya!!!
Today definitely didn’t start out as would have loved as I was guilt tripped by Taje (who is very skilled at making people feel guilty by the way) into going to a fashion meeting. Now you see, to the normal man this doesn’t sound so bad because I mean who doesn’t want to meet designers, try on clothes and find out about fabrics? *pointing to self* ME!!! I DO NOT care much for fashion. I mean don’t get me wrong I like to look good and wear nice clothes but im not interested in the creative process of the designers or how their made bla bla bla………..apologies I literally just slept off. Oh well lets move on shall we? After the fashion enchilada, Nabil took us a to a jamming session with a group of Cameroons finest artistes and I lit up like a Christmas tree!! THIS is my thing! Music is my language and I speak it well. These guys gave me chills allover my spine…I loved every bit of it. The talent, the ambiance, the instruments….LOVELY. The girls and I also put our voices to test as we took to the mic to drop a few lines and surprised the audience and even ourselves. Today was the best day…No lies…Back to Douala and off to Kenya tomorrow. Kenya pleaaaase give me memories like this! Kisses Have I mentioned I LOVE Fointama? BEST. TOUR. GUIDE. EVER!
