A French Muslim group is suing Facebook and YouTube over video of the Christchurch mosque attacks, it is reported.
The French Council of the Muslim Faith said the companies allegedly allow a dissemination of this material and inavariably encouraged terrorism, and harmed the dignity of human beings, according to Reuters.
The livestream video of the attacks on worshippers at two mosques, apparently taken by the alleged shooter, on Facebook and then copied and spread on both platforms.
In an email sent to Facebook executives on Friday, Edwards criticised the social networking company’s level of engagement and accountability for its role in the live video.
He said Facebook’s silence in the wake of the Christchurch terror attack was an “insult” to the nation’s grief.
